In this context, a prominent supplier of high-quality construction materials in the United States is currently seeking Plant Operators for its New Kent, VA quarry. The role involves operating and monitoring heavy machinery for the crushing and screening of raw materials such as stone and gravel. Plant Operators are responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of equipment, conducting routine maintenance, and adhering to safety protocols at all times.
You will be responsible for operating and monitoring various equipment, including crushers, conveyors, and screening machinery. Daily inspections and basic maintenance of plant machinery will be part of your routine, along with loading and unloading materials using heavy equipment such as loaders and excavators. It is essential to monitor production levels and make necessary adjustments to optimize output while adhering to strict safety protocols and reporting any hazards or equipment malfunctions. Accurate record-keeping of material usage, output, and downtime is crucial, as is assisting with plant cleaning, shutdowns, and routine servicing. A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies is expected, fostering a culture of safety and demonstrating these values in all work environments.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: 1-2 years in a Quarry or Industrial environment.
•Experience operating quarry or heavy plant equipment (e.g. crushers, screens, loaders).
•Strong understanding of safety protocols in industrial or quarry environments.
•Mechanical aptitude for performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
•Ability to work independently and make quick operational decisions.
•Physical fitness to handle labor-intensive tasks and outdoor conditions.
•Good communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating with the team.
•Flexibility with shifts and willingness to work in a high-production setting.
