FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:

Serves as an instructor in a classroom, laboratory, and/or virtual setting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as an instructor in the delivery of Postal training courses, overseeing the training activities of course participants in classroom, laboratory, virtual, and field environments.
Uses training equipment, supplies, facility, and fiscal resources in implementing and delivering approved training programs for course participants.
Manages training activities to ensure course objectives are met during the prescribed time period.
Serves as a subject matter expert in the design and maintenance of training courses and materials in coordination with training development specialists. Assists with the development of new training and materials and the revision of existing training programs.
Maintains and develops the knowledge bases required for delivering training by reviewing reference materials such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), vendor-based documentation and training materials, manuals, handbooks, bulletins, and trade periodicals; attending training sessions and seminars; and visiting field locations.
Prepares for training delivery by gathering and preparing materials including maintaining equipment, and submitting requisitions for parts, services, supplies, and equipment.
Evaluate and document student performance and comprehension of course materials.
Identifies student learning obstacles and develops action plans for resolution.
Ensures the safety and well-being of staff and students by ensuring prescribed safety procedures and practices.
May provide guidance and training to new instructors in the use of effective instructional techniques. May conduct peer reviews of instructors.


Job Requirements---


Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of adult education and training.
Ability to maintain a safe working environment by following established working processes and procedures.
Ability to condense and simplify complex information and communicate clear oral and written instructions.
Ability to instruct adults with varied backgrounds and levels of experience in complex subjects.
Ability to plan and schedule activities, manage time, and meet deadlines sufficient to manage a classroom.
Ability to counsel others to improve individual performance.
Skill in using word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software to create documents, reports, and presentations.
Ability to stimulate interactive discussion and create an engaging environment sufficient to facilitate learning.
Plus, one or more of the following supplemental qualifications:
Knowledge of electronic principles, AC and DC circuitry, circuit analysis, schematic interpretation, etc. Ability to use test equipment, gauges, or tools to take measurements and/or to take measurements with electrical or electronic test equipment.
Knowledge of computer systems used for obtaining reports, word processing, web browsers, and custom software systems and functions and an understanding of techniques and procedures used for input, revision, editing, formatting, and printing.
Knowledge of processing and maintenance operations as they pertain to package sorting equipment.
Knowledge of electric & mechanical equipment; heating, ventilation, and air- air-conditioning (HVAC); and predictive maintenance tools and procedures as they pertain to building system equipment and maintenance.
Knowledge of hardware network infrastructures, software systems and applications, and data processing. Experience troubleshooting and repairing computers plus certification in one or more of the following areas: Cisco Networks, Microsoft, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+.
Knowledge of automotive electrical, engine diagnostics, air brakes, and automotive maintenance as they pertain to light delivery vehicles and trucks.
Knowledge of distribution operations as it pertains to a processing environment and/or knowledge of maintenance operations as it pertains to a processing environment.
Knowledge of business mail entry processes and procedures.
Knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry Standard, OSHA 1926 Construction policies as they pertain to workplace safety programs, and OSHA compliance programs such as Hazard Communication, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER), and Bloodborne Pathogens.
