Job Description

Spalding Consulting, Inc. is seeking a  Teradata Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME)in  Lexington Park, MD . Spalding Consulting, Inc. is a professional services firm specializing in Information Technology (IT), Program Management, and Financial Management for the Department of Defense, federal agencies, and commercial clients. Position Type:  Part-Time (Temporary - 6 months)

Work Location:  This is a remote position (see on-site requirements below).

Salary: $75-$95 hourly -depending on experience.

**On-Site Requirements:  On-boarding will require 1-2 visits to Patuxent River, MD for candidates that are local to the area. Candidates out of state will be onboarded virtually. Training will be virtual and telework maximized/permitted to the greatest extent possible, however for local candidates, training/tasking may require on-site work a few hours per week. Future on-site/telework requirements/schedules may change as additional client direction is received.

 

Essential Functions:

The candidate must have a background in Teradata database administration with expertise in Teradata Cloud Migrations, AWS cloud architecture, and Linux-based system optimization. Duties including performance tuning, collecting statistics, analyzing explains & determining which tables needed statistics. Ability to apply government mandated Database IA STIGS to remain compliant and show proof to auditors. Support multiple Teradata systems including development, test and production systems. Other duties include:

 

  • Collaborates with other teams as needed on Unix, Windows, Web, Boundary, Citrix, DBA, Engineering, etc.
  • Support Application DBA team, including but not limited to: DDL creation, SQL scripting, problem research, system patching, and change deployments
  • Assist with design, development, implementation, and support of automated DBA processes using Teradata and Unix/Linux scripting
  • Implements access policies in compliance with DoD, industry and company standards
  • Manage, design, support, and consult on practices of storage management, archive, restore, and disaster recovery
  • Coordinates, architects, and maintains AWS cloud migration and Teradata cloud
  • Develops and manages effective deployment and migration strategies for software and application data through the deployment process (i.e. development, testing, staging and production environments)
  • Provides senior-level software development support; leadership and mentoring to team members
  • Coordinates with customers to perform software security testing and scans
  • Clearly communicates and documents technical information to developers and business stakeholders
  • Develops and promotes standard operations documentation such as procedures, checklists and instructions
  • Interacts with users to assist with app modernization efforts
  • Leads efforts in modernizing legacy applications to a cloud environment
  • Supports Development teams and DBA/SAs needed
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

Required:

  • 10 years of experience providing senior-level DBA support, Cloud migration, Cloud architecture/design support
  • AWS Cloud experience
  • Teradata Cloud experience
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) experience
  • C#/.NET development experience
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Operating system training certificate of completion or certification for the UNIX operating system
  • HS diploma or GED required. BS or BA degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, Business, or Mathematics preferred.



Desired:

  • Familiar with Unix/Linux and KSH, BASH, and PERL scripting.
  • Experience with microservices
  • Working knowledge of DevOps support processes preferred
  • Experience supporting design and development of cloud operations preferred

Security Clearance:
Active Top Secret Clearance (SSBI) required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.



Education: BS or BA degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, Business, or Mathematics preferred.
