We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing language learning and cultural understanding worldwide. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Project Manager to lead efforts in making internet-based English language proficiency assessments fully compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team of specialists, client representatives, and third-party vendors to ensure that assessments meet high accessibility standards and to contribute to meaningful projects that promote equity and access in education.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Remediation Projects: Lead efforts to bring existing Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) packages into WCAG compliance, ensuring accessibility for all users.
Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Work closely with team members, including Test Assembly Specialists and external vendors, to identify solutions to accessibility challenges.
Project Planning & Management: Develop project timelines, manage work batches, and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
Quality Control & Documentation: Track remediation steps using bug tracking software, perform quality control reviews, and document solutions.
Implement Solutions: Collaborate with team members to integrate accessibility solutions into new test item development, ensuring long-term consistency.
Supervision: Oversee the Test Assembly Specialist, WCAG Compliance, providing guidance and support throughout the process.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Master's degree in EdTech, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
Bachelor's degree in EdTech, Computer Science, or a related field required.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in a relevant field, with a strong background in managing technical projects and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
Required Skills:
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in HTML, XML, and CSS programming.
In-depth experience with QTI 2.x and 3.x standards.
Expertise in developing web content that meets WCAG compliance.
Project Management:
Strong skills in managing software development projects and using bug tracking systems to monitor progress and resolve issues.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate project goals, progress, and solutions.
Additional Information:
Salary & Benefits:
Starting at $75,000, with benefits eligible.
Work Environment:
Flexible work environment—choose to work remotely or in a hybrid capacity from the Washington, D.C. office. This position does not include relocation reimbursement.
Physical Demands:
Regular communication with team members and stakeholders is essential. The role requires sitting or standing for extended periods and operating office equipment, including computers.
