Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a mid-level Systems Administrator to support the Amphibious Assault Direction System (AADS) program activities at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City, FL . The selected candidate will provide support for AADS training, fleet support, and installation in the Panama City, FL area and at various Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Contiguous United States (OCONUS) locations as required. 

Typical Responsibilities: 
  • Complete STIGs/patching on Windows 10, Windows 11, machines as directed by AADS Cyber Lead.
  • Work with AADS Test Lead to carry out and document software and system testing of AADS. AADS utilizes EPLRS radios, Windows 10, Windows 11, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 computers.
  • Support production system/quality testing of AADS computers before sending out to the fleet.
  • Assist with depot repair of AADS computers by identifying/troubleshooting faulty computers.
Location: Full time onsite at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City, FL.

Travel:  This position is anticipated to require up to 15% travel to locations including: Norfolk, VA; Mayport, FL; San Diego, CA; Pascagoula, MS; Guam; Japan; Australia; and Philippines.

Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.

US Citizenship Required:  Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required:  This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (highly preferred); OR be able to obtain a Secret security clearance prior to start. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
  • Associates Degree in an information technology field such as cybersecurity or computer engineering.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of recent, relevant professional experience in system administration.
    • Experience obtained in a US Navy, Coast Guard, or other DoD computing environment is highly preferred.
  • Qualified as an Information Assurance Technician Level II (IAT Level II) under DoD 8140/8570 by possessing at least one of the following active certifications:
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA-Security)
    • CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+)
    • EC-Council Certified Network Defender (CND)
    • CompTIA Security+ CE (Sec+)
  • Journeyman to expert-level knowledge and understanding of Windows 10 & 11.
  • Knowledge of computer network fundamentals.
  • An ideal candidate will also have experience:
    • As a RHEL 7/8 system administrator, and RHEL patching & security controls
    • Software test development and execution
    • Implementing STIGs on DoD Windows and Linux systems.
    • Knowledge of US Navy ship structure, organization, and amphibious operations.
  • Proficiency with common productivity software, including Microsoft Office.
