Job Description

Social Studies Teacher at Notre Dame Catholic School in New Hyde Park, New York Notre Dame Catholic School is seeking a motivated and creative full-time leave replacement teacher for grades 7-8. The teacher is responsible for teaching the NYS curriculum for grades 7 and 8 Social Studies and Grade 7 Literature. This position also involves serving as a homeroom teacher for a grade 7 class. Responsibilities

• Prepares daily lessons and teaches them effectively.
• Maintains a spirit of learning through classroom management.
• Seeks input and feedback from fellow teachers and administration.
• Is capable of using i-Ready.
• Evaluates students through various grading methods.
• Actively communicates with parents of students.
• Assists students who are struggling by setting goals with their parents.
• Participates in active ongoing training and development.
• Follows the instructions of the school administration.

Requirements

• The teacher must be a faith-filled Catholic in good standing with the Church, with a deep knowledge of the Catholic Faith, capable of articulating the Gospel in a compelling manner through words and personal witness.
• The teacher must have a bachelor's degree. Additionally, the teacher should have a master's degree in Education or be enrolled and actively taking classes to finish the degree.
• The teacher must have an understanding of American History and be able to articulate that understanding.
• The teacher is to have a valid New York State certification.
• The teacher is to be Virtus certified.

Salary is determined by the Diocese of Rockville Centre salary scale and is according to education and experience. The range is from $40145 to $74864.
