The Public Safety Supervisor, manages assigned personnel in the daily activities of the Campus Public Safety Department at the direction of the Chief of Public Safety & Emergency Management. This position is responsible for compliance with the Campus Safety & Security Act as listed below.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct supervision of Public Safety Service Officers as assigned (PSSO's).
  • Performs all of the functions of a Public Safety Service Officer ( PSSO ).
  • Responsible for all operational activities occurring during assigned shifts.
  • Along with patrolling campus, communicate shift information during daily briefing to Public Safety Service Officer ( PSSO ) personnel assigned to their shift including adherence to work schedules, department and College policies, and applicable laws.
  • Develop a monthly work schedule of personnel assigned to their shift for Campus Resource Officer ( CRO ) Sergeant's approval.
  • Allocate shift personnel and resources during emergency situations.
  • Train new employees on the day to day job duties.
  • Evaluates employees assigned to her or his shift.
  • Conducts investigations of incidents which may result in the discipline of subordinates; issues discipline or makes effective recommendation of discipline, as appropriate.
  • Resolve issues that occur on shift with key access control systems, fire safety systems, and parking/traffic control and report any irregularities to the Director Chief of Public Safety & Emergency Management.
  • Assist the Chief of Public Safety & Emergency Management with the College compliance of to the Campus Safety and Security Act.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Hours/Schedule:

This position is primarily assigned to the 3rd 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) shift with backup provided to day shift as needed.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work involves moderate exposure to weather conditions and unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
  • Ability to travel from building to building and floor to floor in multiple level buildings, climb ladders, work in confined spaces and on uneven footing.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

FLSA: Salary - Exempt

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, Safety, or related field; or four (4) years full time security work experience; or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Previous experience with electronic security/fire systems required.
  • Experience in situations that involve conflict resolution.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft Office) and email.
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.
  • Must be willing and able to work all shifts (24-hour, seven-day operation).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of College personnel and students.

Salary/Hourly Rate: $48,800 - $53,680
