Responsibilities

The unpaid student nurse extern performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor. The delegated tasks are those that have been taught in academic programs and/or orientation, are within the functions allowed by law to be performed by unlicensed personnel, and that the individual has demonstrated competence to the designated nurse. Under the direction of the preceptor, the extern has the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs.

Qualifications

Completion of junior year of a baccalaureate nursing program, including two semesters of clinical nursing experience

OR

Completion of the third semester (Block III) of an associate degree nursing program.

Nursing programs must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

1. Resume with all clinical information listed out (required)
2. Skills checklist or documented verification of skills acquired within your nursing program
3. Transcripts (required) (unofficial copies are acceptable)

Day and Night shifts available 7:00 - 19:30 and 19:00 - 07:30 Shift and unit placement will occur at time of offer.
