Job Summary:
Torch Technologies is a 100% employee-owned company dedicated to providing superior research, development, and engineering services. They are seeking an intermediate-level Data Analyst Engineer to develop and analyze advanced algorithms, perform data reduction, and interpret data from real-time optical sensor platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and analyze software programs for computer-based systems.
• Perform systems modeling, simulation, and data analysis to improve system performance.
• Develop and test advanced algorithms for sensor data processing.
• Conduct statistical analysis and interpret complex datasets using quantitative methods.
• Research and develop new analysis techniques to improve quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and research teams.
• Advise hardware engineers on machine characteristics that influence software systems, such as processing speed, memory, and I/O constraints.
• Provide input for documentation of new or existing software and analytical tools.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant software design and data analysis experience.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Java, C++, and Python.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, algorithm development, and data modeling.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a final security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Preferred:
• Advanced degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in algorithm development and/or data analysis.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Multi-object detection, association, state estimation, and tracking.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Multi-camera geometry and image calibration.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Data fusion, filtering, and sensor data integration.
• Deep understanding of probability, statistics, and machine learning concepts.
• Familiarity with compiler development, operating systems, and low-level programming is a plus.
