The Department of Art is looking to hire a motivated student to be a Gallery Assistant. A successful candidate will be supporting exhibition programming in the Kimura Gallery in the Fine Arts Building and the Arc Gallery in the Consortium Library. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the day to day operations of galleries that enhance the curriculum of studio art, art history, and general education courses. This position will be 15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.

The Kimura and Arc Galleries are integral components of the art program at UAA. A rotating selection of local, national, and international artists featured in Gallery exhibitions provides students access to first-hand primary source research opportunities which enhances the curriculum of studio art, art history, and general education courses.
A Gallery Assistant will be successful if they are able to work carefully and methodically while executing all outlined responsibilities. They should also work independently in a self-directed manner and communicate clearly and in a positive manner with and a wide variety of community members such as other students, staff, and faculty, exhibiting artists, and gallery visitors. Dependability is crucial. Students must be able to work assigned hours, with some evening hours required.To thrive in this roll, the candidate must have the following skills:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part-time, Student Assistant 2 position with a minimum pay of 15.88/hr.
