What You’ll Do

As an Instructional Coach for ESL at Veritas Prep, you will work closely with teachers to enhance their practices in supporting English Language Learners (ELLs). By providing expert guidance and resources, you will help empower educators to create inclusive classrooms that promote language acquisition and academic success for all students. Your role will be integral in fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.

Specifically, you will:

• Observe and coach teachers on effective ESL strategies, supporting the implementation of best practices for ELL instruction.
• Lead professional development sessions focused on language instruction and culturally responsive teaching.
• Develop and share resources, tools, and materials that align with high-quality ESL instruction.
• Analyze student data to inform instructional practices and provide targeted support to educators.
• Foster strong relationships with staff, students, and families to ensure a comprehensive support system for ELLs.
• Collaborate with the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction to align ESL strategies with school-wide goals.

Requirements

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

• An unwavering belief that all students can achieve amazing things
• A strong background in ESL education or ELL instruction
• Experience working collaboratively with teachers to enhance instructional practices
• Three to five years of teaching experience, preferably with ELLs
• Knowledge of best practices in second language acquisition and culturally relevant pedagogy
• Fluency in Spanish (highly preferred)
• Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) with ESOL endorsement or equivalent ESL certification
• Ability to analyze and utilize student data to inform instructional decisions
• Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment

Veritas Prep is a public, tuition-free school in Springfield that prepares students in grades 5 through 12 to compete, achieve, and succeed in college and beyond. Veritas Prep accelerates every student’s path to college and career by helping them set a strong academic foundation in middle school and guaranteeing access to college classes and college prep support in our wall-to-wall early-college high school.

Our early-college high school program, in partnership with STCC and Worcester State University, prepares students to earn high-impact college degrees, saving students up to two years’ time in college and thousands of dollars. Students can earn up to an associate degree for free, and the general studies associate degree from STCC means students enter as JUNIORS at any Massachusetts public college or university after high school graduation.
