Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Science Director - DNA/Chromatin Biology to lead cutting-edge research in epigenetics and chromatin regulatory biology, with a focus on understanding the role of DNA structure in disease pathogenesis. This position plays a critical role in integrating complex biological processes such as DNA topology, epigenetic modifications, transcription, mRNA splicing, and genomic architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background and experience managing research portfolios while collaborating with academic and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a research portfolio focused on DNA topology, epigenetic modifications, chromatin regulation, and their impact on disease mechanisms.
Develop and implement transcription assays in cellular and in vivo models to assess potential therapeutic interventions.
Identify and collaborate with key academic and industry partners to drive innovative research initiatives.
Establish and optimize biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays to support drug discovery efforts.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, implement, and integrate assays into therapeutic research programs.
Manage collaborations with contract research organizations and academic institutions to advance research goals.
Oversee and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures for assays and data qualification.
Participate in scientific meetings, co-author publications, and present research findings to the broader scientific community.
Qualifications & Experience
PhD in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Neuroscience, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in drug discovery within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
Deep expertise in DNA biology, including structure, epigenetic marks, transcription, splicing, and genomic architecture.
Strong analytical skills and experience in managing large datasets and complex biological systems.
Familiarity with industry-standard quantitative biology tools, technologies, and vendors.
Experience in managing external collaborations, including contract research organizations and academic partnerships.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills
Expertise in transcription-based mechanisms and related assays.
Experience in DNA repair biology and its implications in disease.
Knowledge of neurodegeneration drug discovery and CNS-related research.
Experience with stem cells and other cell-based assays.
Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of creative and strategic thinking.
Demonstrated ability to bridge biochemical and structural biology in drug discovery programs.
A strong publication record highlighting cross-functional teamwork and rigorous scientific contributions.
