Description

TITLE

The University of Lynchburg a private regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia is seeking applicants for full-time a Desktop Support Technician position in the IT department for the University of Lynchburg.

This position reports to is supervised by and evaluated by the Manager of User Support. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Manager of User Support. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior.

Job Type : FT/RPT (Benefits Eligible)

Job Purpose:

The IT User Support Technician is part of a team of IT professionals who provide in house technical hardware and software support for the campus. Technicians help troubleshoot and diagnose computer printer software and other technology related issues.

Specific Job Duties:

• Provides technical support for students faculty and staff
• Installs troubleshoots and repairs campus Windows and Mac computers
• Configures maintains and troubleshoots peripheral devices
• Respond to helpdesk calls emails and tickets
• Troubleshoot software related issues
• Basic network troubleshooting
• Other duties as assigned

Starting Salary:

$42000 a year

Schedule:

• 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (7.5 hours/day with some evenings and weekends to meet needs of the department may be required)

Experience/Skills:

• Must have good teamwork skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with users that range from the novice to the experienced
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Some experience with SCCM and JAMF

Physical Demands:

• The functions of this position are usually performed sitting but may involve significant amounts of walking or standing. Some amount of stooping kneeling bending climbing ladders lifting or carrying is required

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair computer software hardware and associated peripherals

Preferred qualifications:

• Two years relevant experience

Education:

• Two years of college or technical coursework or equivalent work experience required
