Position Overview : We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator focused on Azure SQL to optimize performance, enhance query efficiency, and manage database schemas. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our database systems, while working closely with development teams to implement best practices.

Key Responsibilities :

Performance Optimization:

• Monitor and analyze database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimization strategies.

• Proactively tune SQL queries and stored procedures to enhance application performance.

• Ensure indexes are properly defined and maintained

• Evaluate performance release to release to maintain consistent performance

Query Tuning:

• Conduct regular performance assessments and query tuning activities to ensure efficient execution plans.

• Utilize tools such as Azure SQL Database Query Performance Insights and Query Store to track and optimize query performance.

Schema Management:

• Design and maintain database schemas to support application requirements while ensuring data integrity and normalization.

• Collaborate with other teams (Development, Change Management) to implement changes to schemas, including migrations and versioning, with minimal downtime.

Backup and Recovery:

• Develop and manage backup and recovery plans to ensure data safety and availability.

• Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to validate effectiveness.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement and enforce database security policies, including user access controls and auditing.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for data protection.

• Enable RBAC based access at the columnar level for geo-sensitive data protection

Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with development teams to provide database design input and support application development efforts.

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in production environments.

• Assess and advise on the migration of business logic from stored procedures to middle-tier services

• Educate development staff on the proper use of LINQ or other techniques to efficiently access database from C# services

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and performance metrics.

• Generate reports on database performance and optimization efforts for stakeholders.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Azure SQL Database.
• Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and schema management.
• Familiarity with Azure tools such as Azure Monitor, Azure SQL Analytics, and Azure Data Studio.
• Familiarity with development tools and technologies such as C# and LINQ.
• Understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
