Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

Perform Craftsmen/Cranes and Hoists testing/certification duties. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

Essential Responsibilities:

• Operate, inspect, maintain and repair structural components in all prescribed facilities and RPIE systems, both interior and exterior and other equipment installed in or on the facilities.

• Maintain facility finishes which includes a variety of interior and exterior finishes such as concrete, masonry, wood, metal, sheet rock, paints, foundations, wall coverings, floor coverings (to include raised computer room flooring), and stucco or plaster.

• Maintain and repair roof systems including gutters, fall protection tie-offs, built-up, asphalt and fiberglass shingles, rubber membrane, corrugated metal, and standing seam metal and any other roofing types on AAAF IAW AFI 32-1001, UFGS 07 51 13, and UFC3-110-04.

• Develop/maintain a Crane and Tower Management Plan to include crane and towers accountability, maintenance, certification and operational procedure controls (including corrosion control) necessary to ensure continued operation of all facilities and prevent critical equipment breakdowns.

• Inspect, test, and certify safe operation of all cranes and hoists within rated capacities.

• Perform engineering walk-downs as required for safe operation.

• Load test, maintain, and repair real property installed cranes, mobile cranes, hoists, and lifts, including associated rigging IAW 29 CFR 1910.179, 29 CFR 1910.180, and ANSI B30 Series.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Craftsmen shall have an equivalent of an Air Force minimum 5 level or equal and 5 years’ experience in their respective trades.

• Ability to read and write English is required.

• Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.

• Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.

• Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

• Possess a valid driver’s license. passport from their country have ability to obtain a work visa.

• Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).

• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

• Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies.

• Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds.

• Work includes facilities, towers, antennas, security control and locks, cranes and hoists, corrosion control, heavy metals in paint, and asbestos removal and disposal services.

• Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.

• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
