Job Description

Hybrid – Atlanta. Join a collaborative team to help drive enterprise-wide messaging, coordinate the communications calendar, and create compelling content for employees, customers, and industry audiences across multiple channels.

Job Purpose:

The Communications Manager will be responsible for playing a key role in shaping how we communicate complex, large-scale change across Veritiv, including strategic communications support for mergers and acquisitions, organizational transformations, and other major change initiatives. The person in this role will work closely with program teams and senior leaders to establish a standard engagement model for communications – shifting from reactive, high-touch communications support to a scalable advisory model.

This role will require the development and execution of communications strategy and messaging to support organizational change initiatives, ensuring employees and stakeholders are informed, engaged, and receptive. Additionally, as part of the Corporate Communications team, the Change Communications Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing communications vehicles and events in support of the enterprise-wide communications strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

●Establish a scalable engagement model for communications support on mergers, acquisitions, and large-scale change programs.
●Partner with senior leaders and project teams to define communication needs, set expectations, and provide strategic counsel.
●Serve as an advisor, ensuring program teams own execution while leveraging existing corporate communications channels.
●Create best practices, templates, and playbooks to streamline communication efforts across initiatives.
●Develop and guide communications strategies for major change initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
●Advise on key messaging, audience engagement, and leadership visibility.
●Identify and leverage existing company-wide communication vehicles (e.g., webcasts, intranet posts, email announcements, etc.) to provide visibility with the employee audience.
●Measure communication impact and engagement, refining approaches as needed.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Strategic Communications Planning & Execution

  • Develop and coordinate communications plans that support enterprise priorities, initiatives, cultural moments, and business priorities.
  • Advise on key messaging, audience engagement, and leadership visibility.
  • Measure communication impact and engagement, refining approaches as needed.
  • Partner with business teams to coordinate messaging that builds awareness, alignment, and engagement.

Content Development & Editorial Coordination

  • Manage the communications editorial calendar to ensure timely and relevant communications aligned with business priorities.
  • Write, edit, and prepare communications for internal and external channels.
  • Oversee homepage messaging and key content on the intranet; establish and maintain best practices for governance and publishing.

Communications Channels & Vehicles

  • Coordinate communications efforts across multiple platforms, including intranet, email, video, signage, events, etc.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity of messaging across channels.
  • Monitor and measure effectiveness of communications and make recommendations for improvement.

Work Experience:

● 5-10 years of related job experience. ● Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.

Education:

● Bachelor's Degree - Communications Studies/Speech Communication and Rhetoric
