Job Description

LaSalle Network has partnered with a Chicago based CPG/Retail start up looking to identify a new Controller – CPG Startup to their organization. 

As the Controller – CPG Startup , you'll be responsible for building and managing all accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy and providing strategic insights to support growth. This controller will build out a small team under themselves, report directly to the CFO and work primarily remotely. This role is budgeted up to a base of $160,000 and will be eligible for annual bonuses and long-term incentives. 

Controller – CPG Startup Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL and payroll
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
• Lead budgeting and forecasting activities
• Ensure tax compliance and manage relationships with external auditors
• Develop and mentor the accounting team
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance

Controller – CPG Startup Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, 3+ years in a senior role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience within CPG/Retail highly preferred 
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
• Experience in a high-growth startup environment is a plus
• Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills
