Position Highlights

The Department of Medical Imaging within the University of Arizona's College of Medicine-Tucson invites applicants to apply for the position of Clinical Research Coordinator III. The Clinical Research Coordinator supports and coordinates a variety of clinical research projects within the Department of Medical Imaging. This position serves as a team lead, supporting PIs with research studies and clinical trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and supporting the development and implementation of operational procedures, policies, standards and processes. The role involves supervising and guiding other research coordinators, administering project logistics, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and facilitating communication across various institutional and research teams.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate clinical research studies and clinical trials, ensuring compliance with protocols, regulatory requirements, and timelines.
  • Support recruitment, consent processes, and protocol adherence for human subject studies, ensuring quality and compliance with ethical standards.
  • Administer the full lifecycle of research projects, from initiation to completion, maintaining proper documentation and records in alignment with research protocols.
  • Provide regular updates to PIs on project status, ensuring transparency and effective management of research initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and standardization of operating procedures and workflows to streamline processes for submissions, protocol revisions, and study renewals.
  • Supervise research coordinators, providing guidance and support for ongoing projects.
  • Design and deliver training programs for research staff to ensure proper handling of equipment, data, and adherence to radiation safety protocols.
    Serve as a liaison between research teams, institutional review boards (IRB), and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and ensure timely progress on projects.
  • Coordinate with faculty and management on new strategies and improvements for research approaches and techniques that can inform/influence protocols.
  • Collaborate with other departments and research networks to coordinate efforts and share insights across different research projects.
  • Analyze and review professional literature to develop and refine research methodologies, ensuring the application of best practices.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve research outcomes and processes within the department.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor research professionals.
  • Knowledge of medical imaging systems and research protocols.
  • Proficiency in regulatory requirements, including IRB submissions and protocol management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in clinical research coordination, including human subject research and clinical trials.
