Job Description
Summary MS Technology, Inc. is seeking Civil/Structural Engineers to support government and commercial nuclear projects through all phases of project execution—from planning and design to construction and closeout. This role involves performing various civil and structural analyses, developing designs for building and non-building structures , reviewing hydraulic and geotechnical data, and consulting on technical solutions to ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects, and eager to grow professionally by applying standard engineering practices to a variety of complex tasks. Responsibilities also include monitoring facility design, maintenance, and construction activities to ensure alignment with approved project documents and constructability requirements.
Responsibilities - Lead and coordinate structural and multi-disciplinary engineering projects through planning, design, construction, and closeout phases.
- Perform and review structural analysis and design for foundations, framing, bracing, seismic/wind loads, and other structural systems using hand calculations and FEA tools.
- Perform and review civil analysis and design for geotechnical, hydrological, utilities, grading, etc. using hand calculations and software tools.
- Develop and review engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and design criteria, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
- Select materials and equipment, and prepare clear, concise technical specifications.
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams to determine practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Organize, schedule, and execute work efficiently within project scope, budget, and deadlines.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including submittal and RFI reviews, field verifications, issue resolution, and commissioning activities.
- Support licensing, siting, and environmental documentation efforts through technical input and report development.
- Participate in contractor selection, construction oversight, and ensure conformance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain technical ownership and accountability throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, estimating, scheduling, and performance tracking.
- Assist in managing project controls, including budgets, schedules, risk registers, and KPIs.
- Prepare and deliver project status updates, cost reports, and performance dashboards for stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism in all communications and work activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by project leadership.
Minimum Qualifications - BS in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
- One to two years related experience and/or training (Entry-level positions).
- Four to ten years related experience and/or training (Mid-level positions).
- Experience with civil/structural design and a strong understanding of applicable engineering codes and standards.
- Experience in reviewing and ensuring compliance with engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong technical communication, documentation, and leadership abilities.
- U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications - Active DOE-Q security clearance.
- PE license, with ability to obtain licensure in Tennessee.
- Proven experience with DOE/nuclear construction projects.
- Experience in project engineering: budgeting, scheduling, and field coordination.
- Experience in renovating/modifying existing facilities is a plus.
- Familiarity with site civil engineering: grading, stormwater, utilities, foundation systems.
- Previous field/project engineer experience in construction oversight.
- Experience mentoring junior staff and leading technical teams.
- Proficiency with structural analysis Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software. (i.e. STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, GTStrudl, etc.)
- Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk CAD, and Bentley MicroStation.
