With this position being a development role no experience is required. We will offer the necessary hands on training beginning with a one on one period with our service manager. From there, there will be constant development via hands on experience in the day to day operations of the shop with our highly trained mechanics and service writers offering support and guidance. Throughout this process there will be access to all of the necessary resources.
The key to success in this role is a desire to learn, a positive attitude, and a little determination. If you can bring that to the table we can provide all of the resources it will take to set you up for success as a career mechanic.
Duties Mechanics are responsible for servicing and maintaining all bikes that come through our doors. This can be anything from a flat tire repair to a full overhaul. Tune ups will be assigned to individual mechanics based on service experience. For the right applicant we will provide the necessary training to develop your service skills to the highest level. Tools and required equipment will be supplied by Berkshire Bike and Board. We will expect you to care for and be responsible for these tools.
Service and tune bikes to a high standard of quality and with high productivity following the steps below...
- Take direction from our service writers to complete service tickets based upon a first in first out system
- Complete tune ups in a professional and timely manner based upon our and industry standards
- Communicate with customers as unexpected complications arise or for completion of service
- Document work and update work orders in our point of sale systems
- Maintain a clean work environment and follow through on loose ends
Requirements - Excellent reliability. Proven experience showing up to work day to day on time is a must.
- Good communication skills. You will be in the middle of many moving parts. Communicating progress and timelines as well as following directions will be critical to your success.
- Ability to concentrate on your task all day. This job requires 8 hours of solid attention, on your feet, day in and day out.
- Ability to learn mechanical and technical skills related to all aspects of bicycle service.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds head high.

- Successful and timely completion of required technical training.
