Job Description

Genesis Industrial Staffing is currently hiring for 1ST Class Outside Machinist.

• Install machinery like propellers, pumps, and steering gear
• Perform repairs and modifications
• Manufacturing new parts
• Test installed systems
• Ensure components function properly
• Comply with OSHA standards and shipyard safety practices

Qualifications 

• Strong understanding of marine construction techniques
• Ability to read Blueprints and micrometer
• Ability to interpret technical drawings
• Knowledge of ship repair terminology and compartment location
• Physical ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Precision layout, measuring, and math skills
• Must have 3 plus years as a 1st class machinist in a shipyard
• Must have own tools

Physical demands 

• Standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling weights
• Working in awkward positions
• Exposure to fumes, dust, chemicals, gases, and noise
